When you travel and explore other places and cultures you are taken out of your daily routine and into unfamiliar situations that give you an opportunity for adventure, discovery and to learn more about yourself. How much do you know about your own culture? When you immerse yourself in a new culture you quickly discover more about your own or how they are different. Sometimes it can be difficult to be mindful of your surroundings until you’re removed from them.

When you are miles and miles away from your belongings and your day to day it reduces distractions and allows you to invest the time in more personal experiences. There may be times where you get lost where you are and this will present new challenges and ways to overcome them and can result in a fun spontaneous adventure.

Wouldn’t it be great to have friends all over the world with different background and cultures? You may also find that you aren’t all that different after all. Traveling in a group or with a partner can help you recognize each other’s individual strengths. It can be a way to discover and new side of yourself or the people you are traveling with. It can be a great way to really get to know someone.

When you travel you can embrace the moment, live in the moment, enjoy it to the fullest without electronic distractions. Your phone’s camera may work but maybe you don’t have signal or Wi-Fi, that’s ok. Live with your surroundings for that moment in time.

Stepping out of your comfort zone isn’t easy but it can be very rewarding and help you overcome some personal obstacles.
